Given how aged this interior felt before the update, we imagine it's going to be rather dinosaur-like by the time Mitsubishi finally gets around to a complete redesign. The touchscreen is 1-inch larger (still supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), some of the dials have grippier surfaces to grab onto, and the pillars and headliner get done in black. One could argue the interior was the Outlander Sport's sorest point, but sadly Mitsubishi chose to neglect this part of the car. There isn't much to speak about down the sides other than a different wheel design and a small fake vent added. Mitsubishi kept things relatively subdued out back, and we like the evolution of the taillights and rear bumper here. Judge for yourself, but the previous design was slick and much simpler than this mash up. Then the "shield" sort of juts outward at us, standing in stark contrast with the shiny reflective surfaces on either side of it. There's gray satin plastic, piano black plastic and flat black plastic all hanging out next to each other. To our eyes, the execution comes off as a bit haphazard, lacking in cohesiveness with the sheer number of things going on. This is where Mitsubishi put most of its eggs, appealing to folks who want a tougher looking vehicle. Looking at the crossover directly in the face gives us a real truck-like and rugged vibe. ![]() The big changes are in the styling that Mitsubishi thinks will make it stand out among competitors. Of course, all-wheel drive will also continue to be available optionally. We confirmed that the powertrains from the 2019 model year car will carry over to the 2020 Outlander Sport, which means you'll have the choice between the 148 horsepower 2.0-liter or the 168 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Three-pedal versions of the Outlander Sport represented just 2% of total model sales, so the business case just wasn't there anymore. Mitsubishi was one of the last holdouts to offer a manual transmission option in the smallĬrossover market, and now they're officially out. It was previously only available on the base trim level, exclusively paired with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Mitsubishi is officially dropping the stick shift version of the Outlander Sport with this update. ![]() However, one aspect we were uncertain of was the continued presence of the manual transmission. After I met my driver, we joined Route 1 on the outskirts of the city and spent the first two hours stuck in heavy traffic crossing desolate landscapes dotted with oil fields firing gas flares into the skies. By comparison, the start of my own journey was far more mundane. It was from Basra that the fictional mariner Sinbad the Sailor set out on his voyages to supernatural realms in Arabian Nights. The city straddles the Shatt al-Arab river, which is formed by the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates – the two mighty waterways that inspired the name Mesopotamia (meaning "between two rivers" in Greek). Though the region has experienced decades of recent conflict, it was also once home to a series of illustrious historical empires (the Babylonians, Assyrians and Sumerians to name a few), and Willcox reassured me that the journey would be unforgettable so long as I followed some simple rules: "Keep a low profile, dress conservatively and don't photograph any of the armed checkpoints," he said. My trip would be using Iraq's first and longest freeway, the 1,200km-long Route 1, as a conduit to explore the heart of ancient Mesopotamia. Willcox, who was charged with logistics and security for my journey, was briefing me before I embarked on a 530km, two-day road trip from Basra to Baghdad. "But what's incredible about Route 1 is where it takes you: to the birthplace of some of the world's earliest civilisations, the home of many of humankind's greatest innovations." "This is not a scenic drive," said James Willcox, of adventure travel specialist Untamed Borders. ![]() in foreign currency (FX) have no Chase wire fee for amounts equal to 5,000 USD or. Herbert needs to have more touch on some of these throws. ![]() The WR just sits in the zone and Herbert overshoots him. Here’s a good example from the Washington State game. There are more of these, and they can be glaring when it’s clear he sees a WR open but doesn’t pull the trigger right away. ![]() There is a clear window here where Herbert needs to let it loose. This one sticks out to me because it’s against Auburn in Week 1, a game Oregon should have won. There are numerous examples where Herbert doesn’t pull the trigger when he should or his instincts kick in too late. Now come the issues, and there are plenty. He willed Oregon to win against Wisconsin, scoring three touchdowns with his legs, including the 30-yard game winner below: 4 of Herbert’s biggest flaws (and one that needs to be debunked) He looked like a different player against Utah and then against Wisconsin in the bowl game. It appeared Herbert was not allowed to run until the second to last game of the season, against Utah in the Pac-12 Championship. This rarely happens in the Ducks’ offense, but when they do scheme up specific shot plays where Herbert needs to move a safety, he can do it. Not only does Herbert make an accurate throw, but it’s a difficult one across the field from the far hashmark. Here he’s got a limited amount of time to throw with someone around his legs. People vary on this idea of Herbert under pressure, but I’ve seen a good amount of positive throws in these situations. When Herbert doesn’t have time to think, mostly when he’s on the run and/or escaping pressure, the ball can scream out of his hand. He rifles this throw into a tight window - and it’s dropped. It’s exactly why NFL coaches love Herbert. I’ve picked out a few highlights to show you what Herbert does well and where his strengths lie. 5 of Herbert’s best attributes on the field Let’s take closer look at Herbert’s film to get a better idea of what kind of quarterback prospect he is. He is also a player who will show flashes of brilliance, but then let it all go by missing an opportunity to let it fly. They also dropped 100 passes the last two seasons.Īs any scouting report will tell you, Herbert is plenty accurate enough. That does not excuse his poor throws at times, but his wide receivers weren’t often open or, maybe more importantly, open when the scheme called for it. Unlike Tua Tagovailoa and Joe Burrow, Herbert had almost no pro talent around him in college. It felt as though he was asked to just not screw it up until he needed to bail out the team. Herbert was not allowed to use his legs until the final two games of the season. It was designed around a stellar offensive line, short throws, and the occasional play-action pass. Oregon’s offense was not built around Herbert’s strengths. I tried my best to get someone to give me any nugget of negativity about his personality and I couldn’t.īefore we look at his on-field performance, it’s important to point out something that’s hard to ignore when watching his film. Campbell Trophy, otherwise known as the academic Heisman.Įven though he’s not a yeller or screamer, people around the program who coached or played with him rave about his leadership abilities and toughness. Herbert is a 4.0 student and won the William V. He’s got a cannon of an arm and he’s been durable in college. He’s 6’6, 236 pounds, and runs a 4.68-second 40-yard dash. Herbert is built like he was made in a factory. I’m qualified to discuss Herbert and what he can be in the NFL. I’ve watched every snap of the past three seasons with Herbert under center, and I’ve watched each game film at least once from last season. I hope every player from Oregon is awesome in the NFL. Herbert can be any of these and I’ll explain why.ĭisclaimer for those who don’t know: I went to Oregon. None of these opinions are correct and none are wrong. Some would draft him in the top five, and others would prefer waiting until the second round. You will find some analysts, like Gil Brandt, who grade him as one of the better players in the draft, and others who grade him in the low 20s. One of the most polarizing players in the 2020 NFL Draft is Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. ![]() Before the draft, Geoff Schwartz broke down Herbert’s film to gauge his future in the NFL.
